OG-FPD World Championship Tournament Week 1: October 23rd, Quarterfinal Match 1 Mr. Figaro: "Welcome folks to the first week of a tournament that is sure to change OG-FPD forever. Tonight is the first match of the OG-FPD World Championship tournament. A tournament for a title that OrochiGeese has established to recognize and crown the most dominant wrestler in OG-FPD." Mr. Clyde: "After the last 10 months of OG-FPD action, OG has finally decided to put a stop to all the posturing of who the most dominant man is. This is the final step of a plan that OG has had since the summer. He has spent the last 5 months riling up everyone so that they would be fully motivated at this point." Mr. Figaro: "OG hand-picked the participants for this tournament. He announced them as well as the tournament dates during the last Voltage. Here they are again: 1 WWF: John Cena (10/23) 2 Puro: Toshiaki Kawada SEMIFINALS (11/20) 3 ECW: Shane Douglas (10/30) 4 Battlebowl: Charlie Haas FINALS (12/13) 5 NWA: Steven Regal (11/6) 6 Domination: Dean Malenko SEMIFINALS (11/27) 7 Chris Benoit (11/13) 8 Kurt Angle Mr. Clyde: "As announced, the Finals of this tournament, and the subsequent crowning of the new World Title, will occur on OG-FPD's Two year Anniversary show, on December 13th, 2005. But first, we need to see which two wrestlers reach the finals." Mr. Figaro: "And tonight will be the first step on that road. As OG-FPD WWF Champion, and LTR Champion 2004, John Cena faces off against the OG-FPD United Japan Champion, Toshiaki Kawada." Mr. Clyde: "This match will feature a major collision of styles." Mr. Figaro: "John Cena is known for his brawling style and his in your face "In your face'ism"." Mr. Clyde: "?" Mr. Figaro: "Whereas Kawada is known for kicking your face right off of your head." Mr. Clyde: "There you go, that's more like it." Mr. Figaro: "Kawada is also known for devestating powerbombs and painful brainbusters. And taking all his opponent has to give, and then rendering him immobile with dangerous kicks." Mr. Clyde: "Cena has not backed down from any fight since coming to OG-FPD in 2003. And although people always underestimate him, he always proves his will to fight in his matches, despite any superfluous talk outside of the ring." Mr. Figaro: "John Cena has actually been involved in multiple long matches, including an over 30 minute classic at last year's LTR, among other matches." Mr. Clyde: "And yet he conducted himself as somewhat of a clown during the last Voltage, prompting Kawada to get angry at him and release a handshake. So there is definitely some tension here. We'll see how it plays out between them, as the match starts now." Quarterfinal match 1: John Cena vs. Toshiaki Kawada (I'm posting a couple of copies of this video to ensure you all get a chance to see it. If one link expires due to a download quota, try one of the other ones. If none of them work, email me and let me know, k?) http://s63.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3QZDVGDGJVZB62VTQYL2UB76YL http://s61.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2SC80DI8V4U611S6IIE7W7SHLX http://s62.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=28YAJ0D7DWWYX0WSEZYMTC5COJ *POST MATCH SPOILERS* Mr. Figaro: "And we kick off this tournament with a match that will be VERY hard to top!" Mr. Clyde: "Although Kawada dominated this match in the beginning, I think John Cena really surprised him and all of us, by hanging in there and making a comeback. He was very close to winning that match and really forced Kawada to raise his game in order to win." *John Cena is about to leave the ring when Kawada stops him. Cena stares him down but Kawada extends his hand. Cena shakes it and they raise each other's hands and exchange pleasantries.* Mr. Figaro: "Awwe, how cute, Cena made a new friend." Mr. Clyde: "I think they earned each other's respect in that match. And if anyone doubts Cena's determination, look no further then this match." Mr. Figaro: "And if anyone doubts Kawada's abilities, look no further then his victory here! Especially after hitting that gamengiri and brainbuster DDT combination which could take out ANY man in this tournament. Well, probably not Regal..." Mr. Clyde: "Regal isn't bullet-proof, we've seen that in the last few months. What we just saw from Kawada could take out anyone in this tournament or fed. He is truly "Dangerous K" in this tournament." Mr. Figaro: "Way to seamlessly work in that nickname, Clyde." Mr. Clyde: "Heh, I learned from the best, I guess." *END POST MATCH SPOILERS* Mr. Figaro: "Next week we come to you with the next Quarterfinal match. The OG-FPD ECW Champion, Shane Douglas, will be taking on the Battlebowl 2004 AND 2005 Champion, Charlie Haas. Haas just came off a huge win at Venemous Ties against Kane, and is looking to continue the success he has has over the last few months." Mr. Clyde: "Singles success over the last few months that is. As Haas was part of the successful Team Angle tag team since arriving in OG-FPD in 2003." Mr. Figaro: "But he will now be up against his greatest challenge, and actual OG-FPD Champion, ECW Champion, Shane Douglas. Shane Douglas has made it a career out of winning big matches and titles in OG-FPD. In fact, Shane won his first OG-FPD Title by beating John Cena for that WWF Title a few years back. And Shane has defended his ECW belt ever since the first OG-FPD PPV, Onslaught, all the way back in 2004. Also, Haas better watch out for any Triple Threat involvement that always follows Shane Douglas' actions and matches." Mr. Clyde: "But as exciting and important as this match is, it's not the only tourament match next week. As the "KNIT" Kaori NiGHT Invitational Tournament kicks off next week with the first of the quarterfinal matches. Mr. Figaro: "It will be Azumi Oonishi vs. Visper Karr vs. Tigress Mask. Azumi already has a win under her belt. But Visper and Tigress are new to OG-FPD Joshi. We'll see what they can do in this important tournament match." Mr. Clyde: "We've also been promised a special interview with DX member, Shawn Michaels, next week. Hopefully he'll address his frustration last week with fellow DX member, Randall Orton. And hopefully Orton won't come out to respond...or do anything, for that matter." Mr. Figaro: "Come for the tournament matches, stay for the Orton insanity! That's our credo! No wait...it's not!!" Mr. Clyde: "I'm looking forward to Haas-Douglas, and the first KNIT match. So fans, we'll see you next week."
